Click here to visit the Photo Gallery of Journey the Buddhist Route (7 Photos) Born a prince, 2500 years ago, the Buddha Renounced his royal life to become a wandering seeker. Years later under the tree in the forest, he attains enlightenment, and he begun to teach new was of being.

Just before he died, probably in the 5th Century BCE, the Buddha gave the final instructions to Ananda, his disciple. He told his followers to find comfort and inspiration from the four sacred pilgrimage places- the sites of his birth, death, enlightenment, his first sermon, and , and his mahaparinirvana or death.

Two centuries later the great Indian Emperor Ashoka converted Buddhism and made the pilgrimage. At these, and other, sites he erected pillars, many of which still survive.

Our journey takes us to these sacred sites, and to the other associated with early Buddhism. We will meet Buddhist pilgrims from around the world, and truly know ourselves to be in footsteps of Buddha.

Also we explore the great Hindu cities of Lord Shiva- Varanasi ,Lumbini, etc. For me, the pilgrimage to the four holiest sites of the Buddha’s life has been of immense spiritual value. It is therefore with great pleasure invite you to make such a journey with Soul of India Tours.
